Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Robin Hobb is one of my favourite fantasy authors and this is the first book in a new series that follows on from the Liveship Trader series (you should read that series first – it’s very good).
“She already disliked both of them. The man because he had no respect for Skymaw and was too stupid to understand her, and the woman, because she had seen the dragon and now she coveted her.”

Robin Hobb writes wonderfully and I have been looking forward to this series. This book suffers a little from having to set up a complex story line for the rest of the series and I wonder if there is too much unnecessary information being used to pad out the story for commercial reasons. I rated it 3/5 but I expect the books that follow to be much better.

sounds like a nice read … I’ll put that on my to-be- searched list.
My teaser is from a Japanese Writer
I never used to think I was a fantasy reader, but these days I find myself reading more and more.
My teaser is here
This one does appeal to me. I like dragons. I have read some Robin Hobb but the Lifeship Traders books are still sitting on my TBR pile. One day, I hope…..
Thanks for sharing the teaser and your thoughts on the book.
I’m also reading Fantasy at the moment, here’s my teaser:

I enjoy fantasy occasionally. This is a really good teaser. Here’s Mine
Interesting! You just had me checking out our fantasy section in the home library to see if we had any Robin Hobb since I was sure we did (we did, eye level which is why I remembered
) now I have more to read.
With regards to the suffering from set up I find this is often the case in longer fantasy series. I found the same problems in David Eddings Belgariad series.
Sounds like an interesting as well as witty read. Great teaser.
Hmm, I haven’t plunged into “fantasy” yet, but anything is possible!

Great teaser, I haven’t heard of this book before but it sounds really interesting. My teaser is at The Crowded Leaf.
I’ve heard good things about Hobb. I’ll have to check this one out! Thanks for sharing.
Here’s mine, opening chapter of The Legend of Wolfboy – published anonymously by author in contract dispute w/ previous publisher. It begins publishing as it’s written this week. http://LegendOfWolfboy.com/ Reviewers can contact the site for a review copy before it’s public.
—————————————
Dusk was deepening toward another dark summer night and the chilly mountain air felt like frigid fingers running down their spines.
A near-full moon began to peak through the majestic mountain pines that dominate the western slope of the California Sierra Nevada mountain range, adding to what was already an eerie atmosphere.
“It was seven years ago today,” Ryan growled, his voice breaking the silence on this starless night, June 13, 1995. “The car radio said severe thunderstorms were threatening to hit the Sierras, but the Jacksons were set on going on their annual family vacation to Shaver Creek.”
I don’t read much fantasy, but this is a great teaser. Thanks for visiting!
Sounds like a great fantasy read! I might have to read these sometime.
Fantasy! And dragons! Two of my favorite things. I think I’ll keep an eye out for this one. Good teaser! XD
BTW thanks for dropping by my teaser!
I’m not much into fantasy either but this could be okay. I like the dragon aspect.. My teaser is here
Interesting teaser!
Seems like an unnecessarily awkward sentence where the dragon is comparing the two humans. Thanks for stopping by my post.
Actually it was a third person commenting on two others and their reaction to the dragon.
“Skymaw and was too stupid to understand her” I love this line!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog
This sounds like a great book! Nice teaser
This sounds intriguing!
